🌅Introduction: The Dawn of a New Era Good morning, and Happy Pentecost! Today we celebrate a pivotal moment ( ଗୁରୁତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ମୁହୂର୍ତ୍ତ ) in Christian history: the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Pentecost, derived from the Greek word meaning “fiftieth,” marks the Jewish Harvest Feast, or Feast of Weeks. Just as God appeared on Sinai for the birth of the Jewish nation, Pentecost is widely regarded as the birthday of the Christian Church. The story of Pentecost, found in Acts 2:1-21, is familiar: the disciples were initially huddled behind closed doors, terrorized, demoralized, and paralyzed after Jesus’ crucifixion and ascension.
